We’re CONFLICT, a small boutique software studio. We make software for a living. We understand the work behind it, and we believe the people who build and maintain it deserve to get paid.

Harvest, a well-known time tracker, was part of that value chain. Our account dates back to 2012. We liked it, relied on it, and paid for it. On August 11, our bill was $130 for 14 people. The next day, an email told us our September renewal would be $2,145 a month.

The bill that prompted us to build eZacto

Our August 11, 2026 receipt shows $130 paid for a monthly Business plan with 14 seats. Our renewal email says the account would automatically move to Enterprise with Unlimited usage at $2,145 per month on September 11, 2026.

The September 1 reminder also offers Flex at an estimated $957.50 per month, varying with usage. The August 12 notice had estimated $995. Support separately offered Teams Flex at approximately $866.50 on August 26, with fewer Enterprise features. We’re comparing our own paid bill with the automatic-renewal quote—not claiming everyone received the same price or that the two plans are identical.

Harvest’s current pricing page separately describes seat and usage billing. We’ve left personal and payment details out of this reconstruction. Our original annotated screenshot is in the story above, and eZacto and Harvest, side by side sets it against today’s published prices.

eZacto is an independent product of CONFLICT LLC and is not affiliated with Harvest. Names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. The account figures above describe our own experience.

We went open source.

We asked Harvest’s support to make it make sense. They confirmed the numbers and offered lower-cost, usage-based alternatives. Those were still far above what we had been paying.

The Flex alternative prices more than seats: support told us it also considers the dollar value of our invoices, along with active projects, clients, and tasks. We don’t think a time tracker’s price should depend on how much our work is worth to our clients.

Good software should earn your business, not depend on how hard it is to leave. So eZacto is open source under the AGPL v3: run it yourself, or tell us whether you want us to host it at a straightforward per-person price. We want you to have a choice.

eZacto is released under the GNU AGPL v3, and the source is public at github.com/ConflictHQ/ezacto-oss. The self-hosting paths use Cloudflare Workers or a single container. No eZacto software subscription is required for self-hosting.

Infrastructure, email, domains, and payment-provider fees may apply; free software doesn’t guarantee free hosting.

The apps talk to your instance, not to us. eZacto for iOS and Android is with Apple and Google now, and eZacto for Chrome is on the Chrome Web Store: a timer in your toolbar, your week, and time tracked against the issue you already have open. Each one signs in to whichever eZacto is yours by pasting a token you issued and can revoke, so a self-hosted instance is a first-class citizen rather than an afterthought. We will say here when the mobile apps clear review.

A client portal.
No passwords to hand out.

A client types their email address. If it matches a contact on their account, a sign-in link lands in their inbox and expires in fifteen minutes. That is the whole login: nothing to create, nothing to reset, nothing for you to administer.

Once in, they see only their own projects: hours by project for any date range, the work that has not been invoiced yet, and a day-by-day log with the notes your team wrote against each entry. Amounts stay behind a toggle so a client can read hours without reading rates. A firm-side sign-in shows every active client at once. Every page exports to CSV and prints cleanly.

We built it for our own clients when we left Harvest, and it runs on top of eZacto's API rather than inside the app. Today it is a standalone add-on we stand up for you next to a hosted or self-hosted eZacto; folding it into the app itself is on the roadmap. If your clients used to ask for hours by email, this is the answer to that email.

The demo portal runs against the Folding Forks demo instance: every client and hour in it is invented, and it is rebuilt nightly. The portal's source is public under the same licence at github.com/ConflictHQ/ezacto-portal-oss. It uses the same read-only API tokens you can issue yourself.

What is eZacto?

How does beta signup and payment work?

The USD base price is $10 per billable user per month, or $108 per user paid annually ($9 per month equivalent), before applicable tax and promotional discounts. Annual billing is one upfront payment. Checkout shows the total and renewal terms before you subscribe. Self-hosting the open-source software does not require an eZacto subscription; your own infrastructure costs may apply.

How do founding discounts unlock?

Our planned founding offer unlocks 5% at 100 verified signups, 7.5% at 500 and 10% at 1,000. It covers the first 1,000 eligible paying accounts for their first 12 paid months. The interest-list count is not a verified milestone count. Codes and rewards are not active yet; joining the list does not guarantee admission or a founding place.

Will early subscribers get the better discount?

Yes. If you start at 5% and the community later unlocks 10%, your founding discount automatically increases to 10% for the remainder of your original 12-month window. You do not need another code, and the window does not restart. Monthly subscribers get the higher rate on future bills. Annual subscribers bank the difference for the eligible remaining prepaid period as credit toward their next annual renewal, not a cash refund.

How will referral rewards work?

When a new friend you refer is accepted and makes their first qualifying payment, you each earn one month with an extra 5 percentage points off. Each additional qualified friend earns you another reward month: 100 friends can mean 100 months, while you remain subscribed and eZacto operates. Rewards extend duration, not the percentage: the maximum is 15% during the founding year, then 5% in earned referral months. One referral month on an annual plan earns one month’s equivalent credit toward the next annual renewal, not 5% off the whole year. Referral rewards are being prepared and are not active yet.

What happens if I cancel?

Cancellation stops the next renewal. You keep access until your paid monthly or annual term ends. Cancellation does not prorate subscription charges or promotional discounts, and unused renewal credits are not paid out in cash. Cancel a trial before its displayed deadline to avoid the first subscription charge. Any refund or withdrawal rights required by law still apply.

Where will I manage payments and subscriptions?

Invited hosted checkout will use Stripe Managed Payments through Link. Stripe/Link provides receipts and payment support; the Billing link opens hosted subscription management for payment details, invoices and cancellation. eZacto manages your workspace, seats, beta admission and reward eligibility. Hosted billing is separate from mobile purchases through Apple or Google.

Can I use eZacto on my phone or in Chrome?

The downloads page links to eZacto for Android and the Chrome extension, along with self-hosting and developer documentation. Apps connect to your eZacto instance. Check each store listing for availability and current requirements.

Is the client portal part of eZacto?

The client portal is a separate add-on that reads eZacto through its API using a read-only token you issue. We use it with our own clients, and its source is public under the AGPL v3. Bringing it into the app as a built-in feature is planned.

Can I move from another time tracker?

Explore the demo and the migration documentation before switching. Check the workflows, integrations and exports your team needs; eZacto does not promise identical features to another product. Keep your original data and validate a migration before closing an existing account.
